Our Commitment to Our Community — from schools to seniors’ residences — we love to be involved with our community.

Great Finds has a strong commitment to the community.  Our main support goes to the Children’s Wish Fnd., The Alzheimer Society MB, The Breast Cancer Research Fnd. and Cancer Care MB.  We participate in fundraising events and donate gift packages throughout the year.

We thoroughly enjoy our visits to seniors’ residences such as Tache Home, Linden Wood Manor and Beausejour East Gate Seniors’ Residence.  For many residents, our visit provides them with a rare opportunity to shop on their own and have a sense of independence.  To add to the fun we often ask for a few models from the audience who then take centre stage.   We help all the schools in our area raise funds by donating gift certificates for their silent auctions and providing, on loan, our Treasures as props for their fashion shows.

Having An Event?

Great Finds’ staff are happy to attend teas, bazaars, conventions, fundraisers and other events hosted by people in the Winnipeg and outlying community.  We may be able to:  donate a gift package and gift certificates for your silent auction or as a door prize; set up a retail table at your convention or fundraiser; demonstrate scarf tying at your next group meeting; or have a fashion show at your next social gathering.

Community Contribution Events

Here are some of the events Great Finds has been and will be participating in.

The Children’s Wish Foundation hosted a fashion extravaganza fundraiser “Lights, Camera, Fashion”  on Wednesday, October 19 at the Canad Inn Polo Park.  To kick the evening off, guests could browse and shop at a gallery of fashion retailers set up for the guests’ enjoyment.  The evening was topped off with an exciting fashion show.  The emcee for the event was none other than the fashion guru of Fashion TV — Jeanne Beker.  Great Finds of Winnipeg joined in the fun and hosted a retail booth at the event.  Scarf tying demos were available on video and every guest received one of our scarves in their gift bag.   We had great fun talking with guests and helping them to develop their creative side with all kinds of fashion ideas.    Thank you to all who stopped by for a visit and helped support a truly worthy cause.

The Crown Jewels Convention was held in Brandon in September.  More than 300 Crown Jewellers attended the 2-day fashion bonanza.  Great Finds was there to share in the fun with tons of exciting treats for all those dynamite women who are the Crown Jewels.  See you in Regina in 2012.

Over the past few months, Great Finds has had loads of fun providing fashion incentives and consultations.  For example, the Seine River Seniors’ members had great fun at their Fashion & Accessories Workshop provided by Great Finds’ staff.  As well, Great Finds contributed donations to St. Bernadette’s Parish “50 Golden Years” event and L’Entre-temps des Franco-Manitobaines, Inc. fundraiser.
