Great Finds is a proud supporter of Cancer Care Manitoba. Our support includes specializing in creative “head ware” fashions (not wigs). Laurie, the owner, knows all kinds of ways to tie scarves that will make you look and feel beautiful, chic and exotic — and she will show you how. This is a complimentary service to our customers. Just phone for an appointment with Laurie at 253-1338 or send us an e-mail at grtfinds@mymts.net.

You can be assured that staff at Great Finds will be very sensitive to your needs and respectful of your privacy. An appointment may be made for a time that best suits you.  We have a wide range of scarves to choose from and we’re confident you’ll find a style or two that suits you perfectly.

Great Finds has a varied selection of pre-tied scarves.  They are secured at the back with elastic and are easily slipped on.  You can pair them with a hat or wear them on their own, they are that pretty.  Play with the adjustment to create a look that suits you.  And remember, wear sensational earrings to really add a touch of chic.  You can be oh so sophisticated or down right funky.

Scarf Tying Step By Step

We hope the following will help you learn to tie a beautiful scarf in just a few minutes.  Be as creative as you like.  These ideas are just a place to begin so use your imagination.  Want a more personal instruction?  Don’t hesitate to call Laurie at 253-1338 and come in for a private consultation.  Laurie will help you pick the right scarf, show you ways of tying it and the right jewellery to finish off the look you want.

We are using  long oblong shaped scarves for the demonstration.

Step 1: Holding scarf horizontally, place edge at forehead and separate the scarf into 2 equal "tails".

Step 2: Once scarf is placed on head, tie knot at nape of neck and tighten for comfort.

Hint: During each step of the tying process, lift the scarf at the crown to give fullness and shape to the over-all look.

Step 3: Tie a second knot creating 2 "tails" and adjust scarf on head for comfort at forehead, ears and nape of neck.

Step 4: Twist "tail1" into a tight "plait 1".

Step 5: Work "plait1" clockwise around the knot (going under "tail 2") keeping the wrap snug around the knot.

Step 6: Lift "tail 1" each time you wrap "plait 1" around the knot.

Step 7: Using left hand as a guide, continue wrapping "plait 1" to its' end. Tuck the end into the spaces created by wrapping "plait 1" around the knot.

Step 8: Twist "tail 2" into a tight "plait 2".

Step 9: Using your left hand as a guide, continue wrapping "plait 2" clockwise until its' end.

Step 10: Tuck the end of "plait 2" into spaces created by wrapping both "plaits" around the knot.

Step 11: Continue to tuck and adjust until you feel secure with the fit and look. Tucking makes the knot more secure.

Step 12: The same knot -- second look. Move the tied scarf around your head to get the knot just behind your ear.

The knot is secure enough to stay in place even when you're not wearing the scarf.

The Loop knot is tied behind the ear. Make one knot and then bring the second knot through making a loop and pull until secure. Adjust the loop size and fan out to create fullness. Let the tails fall over your shoulders.
